rendering of Pier 4, Boston, MA

Pier 4 is a mixed-use project on the South Boston Waterfront that will include approximately 1 million square feet of hotel, residential, office, retail and civic uses on approximately 9.5 acres (including about 4 acres of water). Boasting a highly visible and accessible location neighboring the Financial District, Pier 4 will become a vibrant place to shop, dine, live, work, and visit - day and night. It will be the definitive destination in the South Boston Waterfront. Construction at Pier 4 is scheduled to begin in early 2012 on 380 rental apartments, with opening projected for early 2014.

Pier 4 is surrounded by new facilities and attractions drawing hundreds of thousands of conventioneers, hotel guests, office workers, residents, and visitors. Already, many of the projects envisioned for this burgeoning area have become reality, including the $800 million Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, the 790-room Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel, Manulife Financial's 500,000 square foot U.S. Headquarters building, the 1 million square foot Seaport Center East and West office towers, the architecturally-acclaimed Institute of Contemporary Art adjacent to Pier 4, the 465 luxury apartments at Park Lane Seaport, and the 471-room Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel. The first phase of nearby Fan Pier is currently under construction and several components have opened, including the marina, the Institute of Contemporary Art and retailer Louis. Also at Fan Pier, an 18-story office tower is nearing completion and Vertex Pharmaceuticals has signed a lease for 1.1 million square feet of new office and lab space.
